A new O’Dochartaigh clan association was started in the 1980s, bringing collaboration between Irish community leaders in and around Derry and the Inishowen Peninsula, and genealogy enthusiasts in the USA and other countries. Preparations began for an international reunion in Ireland in 1985. My parents attended in 1985, 1990 and 1995. My father, Hugh, documented our family history back to the 900s and connected with a line of cousins near Manorcunnignham. Following a tour of the Doherty homeland with my father and a visit to clan HQ in Inch Island in 1996, I created this website as a portal for any who seek to learn about their Doherty heritage.
